Thar mows down biker in west Delhi's Moti Nagar, second killing in August by an SUV

The incident took place on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. The deceased was identified as Bechu Lal, a police official said.

NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle was allegedly hit by a Thar SUV in west Delhi’s Moti Nagar area, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. The deceased was identified as Bechu Lal, a police official said.

“Moti Nagar police station was informed that a bike was hit by a Thar, and the rider died in the accident. The driver fled immediately after the incident,” the officer further said.

“Police are checking CCTV footage of the area to ascertain the sequence of events. Multiple teams have been formed to trace and apprehend the vehicle,” the officer added. The body was sent for post-mortem, and the family informed.

Earlier, on August 10, a pedestrian was killed and another injured when a Mahindra Thar rammed into a pavement near the Gyarah Murti landmark in Chanakyapuri.
