NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday addressed concerns raised by traders and business owners, stating that they have long struggled with inadequate infrastructure, poor sanitation and a lack of development.
She attributed these issues to the mismanagement and impractical policies of the previous AAP government.
Speaking at an event ahead of the Delhi Budget 2025-26, Gupta emphasized that her government is committed to addressing these challenges. “Traders and industrialists have shared valuable suggestions and we assure them of concrete action,” she said.
She criticised the previous administration for neglecting key commercial areas like Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh, and Lajpat Nagar, where poor road conditions, inadequate sewer systems, and a lack of essential civic amenities have hampered business operations.
“For years, bureaucratic hurdles and policy failures have made life difficult for traders. Roads remain in disrepair, drainage systems are ineffective, and even basic facilities like public washrooms are missing from major markets,” she said.
Gupta further accused the former government stating, “They only publicised pain, but we are here to implement solutions and provide relief.”
