Illegal LPG refilling racket busted in Delhi's Dabri; one arrested

A food supply officer was called to the spot, and the necessary action was initiated in the matter.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police has arrested a 61-year-old man and busted an illegal LPG refilling racket in southwest Delhi’s Dabri area, seizing 17 cylinders, officials said on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the crime branch on Tuesday conducted a raid in the Seetapuri locality, where the accused, Mohan Lal Garg, was found running an unauthorised LPG refilling operation from his shop, they said. During the raid, police recovered 17 domestic LPG cylinders of different companies, including Indane, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, a senior police officer said.

According to the police, Garg had been illegally storing domestic LPG cylinders and refilling them for sale in the open market at an inflated rate of Rs 200 per kilogram in order to make wrongful gains.

A food supply officer was called to the spot, and the necessary action was initiated in the matter. The recovered cylinders were handed over to the local police station, and a case was registered, they said.

According to the police, the accused had been illegally storing domestic LPG cylinders and refilling them for sale in the open market at an inflated rate of `200 per kilogram in order to make wrongful gains. As many as 17 cylinders were recovered, and the necessary action was initiated.
