HYDERABAD: HRD minister of AP Ganta Srinivas Rao promised to henceforth issue notifications for the District Selection Committee (DSC) exam on a yearly basis to fill vacancies of teaching staff.
“The TDP government, as promised in the election manifesto, is planning to issue the notification in September this year to fill over 10,000 vacant teacher posts in the state,” the minister said after declaring the first year intermediate supplementary results her Wednesday.
“In the recent Cabinet meeting, a decision was taken to issue notification this year to fill the 10,000 vacant teacher posts. Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has responded positively to the proposal,” Srinivas Rao said and added that the government was examining the possibility of the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET). The exam is the preliminary exam for the DSC.
According to estimates, of the total 30,000 vacancies in various government school across the undivided state, AP accounts for over 15,000. Ever since political unrest hit the state, the recruitment process had failed to take off leaving aspirants in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in a limbo.
The exam for the notification issued in July 2013 for the recruitment of 20,508 teachers was called off due to the instability and the enforcement of the model code of conduct.
In line with its poll promise of bringing in far-reaching reforms in education, the Telugu Desam government will soon launch a website to gather suggestions on the implementation of various education policies and feedback from citizens, Rao said and added “Anyone can give suggestions to the government about new methods and point out gaps in the implementation.”
Alluri Birth Anniversary to be State Function
Andhra Pradesh government will celebrate the 117th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju which falls on July 4, as a state function. Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu took the decision in recognition of great services of Alluri Sitarama Raju during freedom struggle and in uplifting the tribal community. Earlier, S Prasada Raju, president of ‘Alluri Sitarama Raju Smaraka Samithi,’ met the chief minister and thanked him for taking this decision.
Inter I Supplementary Results Declared
A pass percentage of 62.29 was recorded in the first year intermediate supplementary results which were declared by AP HRD minister Ganta Srinivas Rao here Wednesday. While 69.49 percent of the total candidates emerged successful in the general courses, the pass percentage of vocational courses stood at 56.35 per cent. The cumulative pass percentage reached 68.25 percent (general) adn 57.75 percent (vocational).
