Express News Service

HYDERABAD: Even as investigation into the brutal murder of Congolese national Cynthia Vechel allegedly by her husband Rupesh Kumar Mahanani is going on, their 7-year-old daughter has already reached Congo. Almost a month after the murder, a local court gave directions to handover the minor to Cynthia's parents in Congo even as Rupesh's parents too argued for the girl's claim. Shamshabad Police confirmed that the girl was handed over a few days ago and flown out of the country.

“She left for Congo last week after the Rangareddy Child Welfare Committee decided so. Her responsibility will now be taken care of by the Congo government,” said Shyama Sundari, joint director, Women and Child Welfare Department. According to her, the child was asked for her wish before the decision was taken.

Meanwhile, Rupesh in police custody has confessed of having committed the crime.

“I found fault in my wife who was in relationship with a foreigner and spent more time in front of a laptop. She also failed to take care of my daughter. Since then, disputes were common between us,” he told police. According to Rupesh, Cynthia was prepared to go abroad with their daughter without informing him. “After arguments, I asked her to go to foreign alone and requested her to leave own daughter with me. She refused which again led to another heated argument,” Rupesh Kumar confessed.

He then made a plan on July 4 and purchased a hammer, axe and knife.  When he came home, he locked his daughter in another room and killed his wife. Later, the body was chopped off into many pieces that were stuffed in a suitcase.

The Cyberabad police have prepared a report in connection with the brutal murder case.
