HYDERABAD: Released from jail on bail on Saturday, Vikram Goud, son of former minister Mukesh Goud, on Sunday alleged police was releasing false information about the alleged attack on his life.
According to police, Vikram had hired a gang for `50 lakh to shoot him as he was facing a financial crisis and hoped to gain public sympathy ahead of polls. Addressing media on Sunday, the 33-year-old said the information police provided to media was “false”.
“I will face trial before court of law and get justice. During questioning, I gave contact of one Nanda Kumar to police suspecting his involvement,” he said.
He asked how he could afford to pay a gang `50 lakh if he was facing a financial crisis.
“I want to contest elections in 2024 because my father will contest 2019 polls. As he is a former minister, he has goodwill among public. Nothing new to get sympathy from public,” said Vikram, reiterating that the July 28 shooting at his residence in Banjara Hills had not been arranged by him.
“One bullet pierced my hand and another one pierced my spinal cord. The bullet is still in my spinal cord. Doctors have said it is not safe to remove,” he said. His wife Shipali alleged harassment of the family by state government. Hyderabad Police had earlier arrested five people in connection to this case.
