HYDERABAD: Sashi Vangapalli, the first designer from Hyderabad to showcase at the 70th Cannes Film Festival, unveiled her plans to launch her new store later this month in the city at a promotional event on Friday. Former Miss Universe and actress, Sushmita Sen, was present at the event to promote the designer’s ensemble and show her support.
Together the duo talked about their time working together at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2017. Radhika Manne, founder of Radhika Diamonds and Rohit Suraj, Founder and Design Director of Urban Zen, were present too.
Her collection, she said, are unique due to the detailed embroidery and custom made fit. Her brand focuses on showcasing a woman’s true inner beauty through her clothes.
Alongside news of her store launch, she has also revealed news of promoting women empowerment through education under the program head; #ForTheBeautifulShe. To commemorate this venture, girls from Sphoorti orphanage, run by Srivyal, were present, basking in Sushmita’s presence.
