Cyberabad Municipal Corporation suspends town planning officer

The report said the Town Planning section had issued notices over the unauthorised construction on June 17, 2026.

HYDERABAD: Following the collapse of an unauthorised building at Anjaiahnagar, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner G Srijana on Sunday suspended Town Planning Building Officer (TPBO), Circle-50, Madhapur, U Santosh Kumar, with immediate effect.

According to the preliminary report of the town planning wing, the building at Anjaiahnagar, Gachibowli village, Serilingampally mandal, was constructed by Farheen Siddiq and Sajid without the required building permission and prescribed setbacks. The report said the Town Planning section had issued notices over the unauthorised construction on June 17, 2026.

The suspension order stated that the TPBO failed to take necessary action to stop the construction, resulting in loss of life and endangering public safety. Disciplinary proceedings have been contemplated against the officer.

The town planning wing has also submitted a report to Raidurgam police seeking registration of a case against Farheen Siddiq, Md Sajid and others under applicable provisions of law.

Builder arrested

Meanwhile, Raidurgam police arrested builder Sajid. Police said contractor Khaza Moizuddin is absconding and efforts are on to trace him. Investigation is under way.
