Kakkanadan bags Balamaniamma award

KOCHI: Novelist Kakkanadan has won this year’s Balamaniamma award while the award for the best publisher has gone to Mathrubhumi Books for publ ishing ‘Haimavathabuvil’, the travel experiences of M P Veerendra Kumar through the Himalayas.

Kakkanadan was selected for the award in recognition of his contribution in the literary field. Sugathakumari, M Leelavathi, Kovilan and Mahakavi Akkitham Achuthan Nambudiri are the earlier winners of the award.

The award carrying Rs 25,000, a plaque and a citation will be given to Kakkanadan by writer M T Vasudevan Nair at a function to be held at Durbar Hall Ground on December 8.
