KOCHI: David Philip of Thiruvananthapuram emerged with the ‘Gatta Gusthi Kesari’ title after winning the state Indian style wrestling (Gatta Gusthi) championship that concluded the other day.

KOCHI: David Philip of Thiruvananthapuram emerged with the ‘Gatta Gusthi Kesari’ title after winning the state Indian style wrestling (Gatta Gusthi) championship that concluded the other day.

The event was organised by the State Gatta Gusthi Association together with Cochin Grapplers at the Fort Kochi beach. David, who beat Jithesh in the final, received the Kesari turban, ever-rolling Kesari mace and cash prize.

Former Kochi Corporation councillor and Cochin Grapplers patron Santhosh Berly gave away the prizes. Former state champion and retired DySP E J Stanley, former wrestlers and ASIs Xavier and Chidambaram, along with SGGA secretary T J Jojo, attended the valedictory function.
