Film puts poet in bad light: Lyricist

Express News Service

Noted poet and lyricist   has come out against the way gifted poet P Kunjiraman Nair has been portrayed in the movie ‘Ivan Megharoopan’ by P Balachandran.

The film gives a negative impression of the poet among the youngsters and depicts him as a lustful individual, alleged Damodaran.

Kunjiraman Nair has been portrayed as a mere worldly individual who keeps on lusting after women. He is being humiliated. “The film-maker could not portray the real poet in Kunjiraman Nair,” said Damodaran.

“Instead of depicting a gifted poet who creates soulful poetry, he has been shown as a man who gets up every morning searching for a new woman,” said Damodaran. The film has not focused on Kunjiraman Nair’s life as a poet.Damodaran pointed out that the catchword of the film ‘song line of a poet’ could be corrected and read as ‘wrong line of a poet’.
