New delights for cine-goers

Though the large white flex boards and banners at Saritha, Savitha and Sangeetha cinema houses give clear message about the ongoing Kochi International Film Festival, it is amusing to see some regular cinema goers thronging the complex asking for their regular treats only to realise that it is not their cup of tea.

However, there were some who were rather delighted to explore some ‘out-of-the-box’ movies for a change. “For the past three days, many come and enquire about the regular screening. And, when they hear about the festival movies, they seem to be interested and buy a pass and go ahead to explore the films,” says the ticket seller at the cinema house.

The third day, which began with the screening of adrenaline-pumping Polish film ‘Flying Pigs’ at Saritha, saw a stream of college students filling in the hall. The movie directed by Anna Kazejak tells the tale of Polish football, fan clubs and the hooliganism. The movie revolves around four main characters whose main task is to chant and wave flags for ‘Czarni’, a local football club.

Their lives turn upside down when the sports club gets kicked out of the league. The film is a mix of drama, passion and honour and has a feel-good factor. This movie can be categorised into the stream of popular Polish cinema.
