Opening a new avenue for aspiring music directors and music programmers, the city-based National Institute of Music Technology(NIMT) has decided to launch bachelor’s and  master’s degree courses in music technology from next academic year onwards. The management of the institute is trying to get affiliated with one of the major Universities in the state, NIMT director Alex Paul said.

“ The music students have to depend upon technology to a great extend these days as it is growing rapidly. Unfortunately, they are not provided with enough courses that will guide them to the fascinating world of music technology. We are now taking an initiative in this regard,” said Alex Paul who has created notable hits in Malayalam cinema.

In order to provide the students a basic knowledge about the new technologies in the field, a one day workshop on music technology will be organised at the WyteFort Hotel here on October 14. The workshop will be inaugurated by director Lal. NIMT will also launch a six- month diploma course on music technology by January 2014.
