KFA Set to Revamp Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium

KOCHI: The Kerala Football Association has decided to take over the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Thoppumpady, to renovate it in association with private sponsors. KFA president K M I Mather, K V Thomas MP, Dominic Presentation MLA and Mayor Tony Chammany inspected the stadium on Saturday.

With this, the KFA aims to turn the stadium,  built with the local area development fund of K V Thomas MP, into a football training centre for young players. After the renovation, the stadium will feature a sevens football court, a volleyball court and a badminton court. Floodlit corridors and walkways are also in the offing at the site. Besides, KFA also plans to take over the boys’ hostel of the Sports Council in Panampilly Nagar and the ground at Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies.
