KOCHI: Two years ago, John George, a freelance photographer from Thrissur, thought of building a website to showcase his photo collections on an online platform to make an earning. Clueless, the 28-year old MBA graduate brainstormed with his close pal Justin and created a website, www.vizcuz.com. It is now a buzz among the online circuit as many artists can showcase and sell their arts through it.
Vizcuz.com is an online e-commerce portal, through which any user can register and upload their creative work for sale. “When we designed and developed www.pixelperfects.com, an amateurish product, many photographer friends approached me to develop an exclusive portal for them too. So we decided to develop a website in such a way that all could contribute their creative work and benefit accordingly and ‘Vizcuz’ was born,” John told ‘City Express’.
“I put together my artistic and business sense together and built a web platform for all,” he said. Vizcuz bridges the gap between the offline and online space for artists. The platform offers more options for the artists to connect with each other for suggestions to improve and refine the product. Pointing out that vizcuz follows three principles such as showcase, share and monetise, John said the portal provides sharing of the creative works through social media too.
Similarly, the vizcuz artists can be hired by others. In addition, the website is free for the users to upload, however there are some paid plans for the users to obtain more benefits.
Vizcuz has an additional feature of job portal where the companies can post creative job vacancies.
“As we are living in an era of smart phones, we are ready with the first prototype of android application of vizcuz. We plan to integrate online artworks to our online store in a mobile application and to conduct online exhibitions that would help connect with more netizens in future,” John said. The website now features numerous online portfolios. The products include paintings, drawings and other artworks displayed with the price tags. An online payment gateway facility is also provided. The portal has got almost 491 people and 200 projects on board in 11 different categories following an online promotion through facebook.
