Express News Service

KOCHI: “When I joined the course in 2009 I thought it would be very difficult to get through,” said 22-year-old V Nandu, after he was enrolled as an advocate at the High Court on Sunday.

Nandu is almost blind in both eyes. “He was three years old when we realised that he was 90 pc blind. The condition was present when he was born,” said his father, Venu.

He said that the blindness is owing to a damage to the optical nerve and in spite of treating it for several years, it could not be cured.

“We tried different ways and nothing worked. We then decided to concentrate on his future. Since he could not take up science, he pursued humanities,” Venu said.

Nandu completed law from Thiruvananthapuram Law College with 65 pc marks.  Nandu completed his tenth from the JNJ School in Thrissur with 86% marks and twelfth from Chathannur S N Trust School by achieving 90 pc marks.

He is planning to do LLM and wants to specialise in Administrative Law.

“When I took this up, I thought it would be so challenging that I would have to give up. But as time passed, it became easy for me. I did not face any specific problem as a visually-challenged person” said Nandu.
