Ceiling of Anganwadi Collapses

KOCHI: A portion of the ceiling of the anganwadi at Elamkulam Kudumbi Colony here came off on Monday morning. As many as 21 children and the anganwadi staff had a lucky escape as the accident took place just before the children reached the building.

The building, owned by the city corporation, was built just five years ago, local people said. Holding the contractor, officials and people’s representatives responsible for risking the lives of small children, they demanded an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the construction.
