New Swimming Pool Opened at MA College

KOCHI:An ‘Olympics-standard’ swimming pool, built with financial assistance from the UGC, was opened at Mar Athanasius College, Kothamangalam, on Tuesday.

Speaking after inaugurating the swimming pool, MG University Vice-chancellor Babu Sebastian said that performance of Mar Athanasius College students had helped the university scale new heights in national-level athletic championships.   Speaking on the occasion, Thomas Pradhaman Catholica Bava said the college was reaping the fruits of sacrifices made by faculties of the past, led by former College Association secretary the late Prof M P Varghese.

In the swimming pool, which is 50 feet in length and 25 feet in width, ten persons can compete at a time. The gallery can accommodate 1,000 spectators.

  M A College Association secretary Dr Vinny Varghese, principal Dr Densily Jose, M A Engineering College principal Prof B Geeta, International School principal Stanley George and M A College physical training head Prof Mathews Jacob also spoke.
