Kottakkamboor land scam: Probe will be over in a month, government tells HC

KOCHI: The state government on Wednesday submitted before the Kerala High Court it will complete the investigation into the Kottakkamboor land grab case involving Idukki MP Joice George within a month. The court adjourned the hearing of the case to January 10. The government was responding to a petition seeking CBI probe in the case. The Crime Branch informed the court the Revenue authorities had cancelled the title of the land. 

Therefore, the documents on the basis of which the pattas were cancelled had to be verified from the office of the Devikulam Revenue Divisional Officer. Every effort will be taken to verify the documents without delay, the Crime Branch said.The charges against the accused are they snatched away the land of a woman of the Scheduled Tribe by forging documents on the basis of a power of attorney obtained by them in 2001, thereby committing criminal conspiracy and cheating.
