KOCHI: Sri Lankan Airlines, the national carrier of Sri Lanka, is all set to shift its focus from the Gulf region to Far East destinations and holiday packages.

The airlines will focus on services from Sri Lanka to India and Far East tourist destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Singapore and Seychelles, said Siva Ramachandran, chief commercial officer of the airline, told ‘Express’ the other day.

“Though there is a considerable increase in the number of passengers to and from the Gulf region, it does not yield revenue proportional to the number of services,” he said. Certain services to and from certain Indian cities and the Gulf region have already been stopped.

But, this does not include services connecting Kerala,” he said.   However, the airlines has plans to increase services to and from Indian cities.
