THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Air Marshal S Radhakrishan, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Air command (SAC), will be retiring on August 31 after a distinguished service of 39 years.

He took over the reins of the SAC on October 1, 2008. During his stint as SAC Chief, he had brought about many significant changes. The operational capabilities of the SAC were overhauled to snuff out all  the vulnerabilities.

Under his command, Operation Dakshin Prahar, Operation Passex with the US Navy and other joint exercises were conducted to augment and fine-tune the operational capabilities of the SAC. A ceremonial guard of honour will be presented to him at the SAC headquarters at Akkulam here on August 31.
