Noted Sanskrit scholar Vasudevan Potti and famous musician Parassala B.  Ponnammal have been selected for the awards instituted in the name of Sanskrit scholar and teacher S. Ganesha Sarma.

 Announcing the awards at a news conference here on Monday, the Ganesha  Sarma Educational and Charitable Society office-bearers and jury members Kumara Kerala Varma and N. Sundaram said the awards carried a cash prize of Rs 5,001 each, a citation and a memento. The awards will be given away at a function to be held in Thiruvananthapuram on February 21.

  They said Vasudevan Potti was selected for his comprehensive contributions to the studies and propagation of Sanskrit. Parassala Ponnammal was one of the students of the first batch of the Swathi Thirunal Sangeetha College and is a singer of repute.
