Bharat Murali Chair dedicated

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Aesthetics Chair under the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademy was dedicated to the memory of actor Bharat Murali at a function held at  Women’s College here on Wednesday. The dedication was made with the aim of conducting research in aesthetical theory.

Education Minister M.A. Baby, who inaugurated the function, termed the dedication as the fitting tribute to Bharat Murali, who had brought several reforms in the Akadamy with his dynamic leadership,  while he was the chairman.

The Minister also released the Malayalam version of the text, ‘Brihaddeshi’, composed by Mathanga Muni, by handing over a copy to renowned musician Parassala B. Ponnammal. The book was translated by Dr V.S. Sarma.

 Later, Prof George S. Paul delivered a lecture on ‘The Margi and Desi Music Traditions’ under the auspices of the Bharat Murali Aesthetics Chair.

Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademy chairman-in-charge K.M. Raghava Panikkar, Akademy secretary Prabhakaran Pazhassi, Prof V.N. Murali and K. Omanakutty also attended the function.
