THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ‘A pestering journey’,  directed by K R Manoj, continued its success journey at the fourth edition of the International Documentary and Short Film festival which concluded here on Thursday. The national award winning documentary was adjudged the best film in the long documentary category.  The award comprised a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a certificate of merit.

 Shahnad Jalal who did the cinematography for ‘A pestering journey’ won the award for the best camera in the documentary section. ‘Kaveri’, directed by  Shilpa Munikempanna, won the award for the best short fiction.  ‘There is something in the air’  the film directed by Iram Ghufran won the award for the best short documentary.

 Barun de Joardar won the award for the best cameraperson in the short fiction section. ‘Mullaitivu Saga’ , the documentary on  Sri Lankan  strife directed by S Someetharan, won special mention for making a film braving tremendous odds.

 Anusha Nandakumar, the director of the music video ‘Sita Haran aur Anya Kahaniyan’, won the award for the best music video. Documentaries ‘You don’t belong’ and ‘Vertical city’ also got special mention.

  Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Forest and Film K B Ganesh Kumar said that the proposal for the film complex on the Tagore theatre premises will be submitted to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry on August 22. Shyama Prasad, chairperson of the Jury (Fiction), lauded the films for their brevity, clarity and dynamism.  He felt that the films were however found wanting in terms of technical perfection which is something to be focussed on.ENS
