A musical tribute to superstar Rajesh Khanna

Music lovers of the city are invited to a “shaam mastani” this weekend. A tribute to the ‘first superstar of Bollywood’ Rajesh Khanna, who passed away last month, has been organised at the Panchayat Association Hall opposite Kanakakunnu palace on Saturday, August 25 at 6 pm.

The event, titled ‘Aradhana’ after one of the actor’s most celebrated films, is expected to last three hours. It will feature the evergreen hits of the remarkable trio - Rajesh Khanna, Kishore Kumar and R D Burman. Films for which they have worked together include ‘Aradhana’, ‘Kati Patang’ and ‘Amar Prem’.

Their successful combination gave life to unforgettable songs such as ‘Ye shaam mastani’ and ‘Roop tera mastana’.

In Saturday’s event, the songs will be performed by a team led by Bollywood playback singer Mumbai Mohammed Aslam, who was part of A R Rahman’s Jai Ho team. Dance performances will accompany the music.

The event is being organised by Team i2i and being sponsored by Meditrina Hospital. Entry is permitted only upon showing passes. Those interested in attending must contact the organisers for passes, which are available on a first-cum-first-serve basis. Contact: 9746466440.
