Microsoft youth spark in city

Express News Service

Microsoft, in association with NGO Aide et Action, has opened Youth Spark, its second skill development centre for youth in the country here on Friday.

The centre located at Vanchiyoor will provide training to youth between the age group of 16 and 24 years. Training will be imparted in basic IT skills, spoken English, personality development and job preparedness.

Eight more centres will be opened in the country besides the first centre in Delhi, company representatives said. Each centre will focus on one trade-led enterprise such as IT-enabled services, retail, hospitality, automobiles etc.

“Bridging the opportunity divide among youth is the focus of Microsoft globally and in a country like India, with a substantial young underserved population, it is imperative that skill-building be a focus of our efforts,” said Akhtar Badshah, senior director - Citizenship and Public Affairs, Microsoft Corporation. The Youth Spark aims to create job opportunities for 300 million youth around the world over the next 3 years.
