An international school will come up in Thiruvananthapuram at Kavuvila, six kilometres off Peyad, on the outskirts of the city.

Green Valley International School, nestled in 10 acres of land, will start functioning from June 5 this year offering student enrolment from pre-kindergarten to standard VII in the first phase. The campus is being developed in a phased manner and when complete, will be a residential school for both girls and boys.

Green Valley International School will be affiliated to ICSE Board, but will also offer the International Baccalaureate stream for grades 11-12. The principal of the school is  Antony Eapen, former principal of Sarvodaya Vidyalaya and Mar Ivanios College.

Balamurali Vijayaraj, managing director, Green Valley International School, told mediapersons here that Green Valley International School believes in focusing on each child as a unique individual and has developed their academic  programme to achieve and nurture the needs of every child through their specially designed personalised, Individual Learning Programme (ILP). ILP is the learning plan which charts each child’s learning styles, goals and achievements and  is collaboratively developed by the teacher, student and parent.

The architecture of the school and the campus is conceived by Education Design Architects (EDA), a JV company of Fielding and Nair International (FNI), USA. The school will have world-class facilities - ranging from science parks and aromatic /herbal gardens, auditorium and amphitheatre to air-conditioned basketball court and new age features like learning studios, learning commons and Da Vinci Studios - to provide an international learning experience and support unique learning programmes, resulting in all-round development of students. The student teacher ratio will be restricted to 1:17.

‘’Children need skills that are different from those acquired in conventional schools. At Green Valley School, education would be based on an inter-disciplinary and integrated approach that helps children acquire numerous real-world skills needed to excel in whatever the future holds,’’ said the school principal, Antony Eapen.
