Aid Given Under 'Pratyasha' Scheme

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday disbursed the second instalment of financial aid for the marriage of under-privileged girls under the ‘Pratyasha’ project implemented by Kerala Social Security Mission (KSSM) in partnership with Malabar Gold and Diamonds.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday disbursed the second instalment of financial aid for the marriage of under-privileged girls under the ‘Pratyasha’ project implemented by Kerala Social Security Mission (KSSM) in partnership with Malabar Gold and Diamonds.

A sum of Rs 61.5 lakh was disbursed to 123 beneficiaries from Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Ernakulam districts. Under the ‘Pratyasha’ project launched in October 2013, a sum of Rs 1.23 crore had already been distributed to 246 beneficiaries.

 The financial aid has been disbursed to those who have applied under the project till Feb 2014. Each beneficiary will be given Rs 50,000 under the project. Malabar Gold and KSSM have set apart Rs 5 crore each for the project.

Minster For Social Justice M K Muneer presided over the function and Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty was the chief guest. KSSM executive director T P Ashraf, Malabar Gold and Diamonds chairman M P Ahamed and other officials were present.
