THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Economists should have an understanding of the common man’s aspirations, Governor P Sathasivam has said.

“Good economists should consider all sections in society, especially those who receive less attention,” Sathasivam said at a function held here on Monday to honour renowned economist Prof M A Oommen.

The Governor also released ‘Democracy, Development and Decentralisation,’ a collection of essays compiled by the Kerala Economics Association in association with the Institute for Sustainable Development and Governance.

Senior journalist C Gouridasan Nair, former principal of Bishop Moore College, Prof Mamman Varkey, UNDP advisor Dr John Samuel, state police chief T P Senkumar, Institute of Social Sciences Director Dr Ash Narain Roy and CDS Director Amit Shovon Ray were also present.
