THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: AS part of its effort to give a new impetus to the intellectual intervention of the party in Kerala, BJP state leadership has appointed ace debater T G Mohandas as convener of BJP’s  Intellectual Cell. Mohandas, a former general secretary (1997) and vice-president (2006) of Bharateeya Vichara Kendram, had served as general manager of Ayodhya printers, an RSS-owned company, and also of ‘Janmabhumi’ for a brief period.

He is known for his independent thinking which often caused embarrassment even to his own fraternity in the Sangh Parivar. A few years ago, an article advocating friendship between RSS and CPM that appeared in RSS mouthpiece ‘Kesari’ had invited the wrath of Sangh followers as the idea was not acceptable to both the RSS and CPM.

A man who has travelled throughout India with friends like Gurumurthy, Subramanian Swamy, Ram Madhav and others  is expected to give a boost to the Hindutva agenda of BJP in Kerala.

An Electronics and Communication Engineer by profession after graduating from College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, he has worked with Maharashtra State Electricity Board and Keltron. Aged 62, he is currently a regular student at Govt Law College, Ernakulam.
