Delegates from 60 countries to attend AYUSH conclave: Health Minister K K Shylaja

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The International AYUSH Conclave scheduled to be held in Kochi in September has received an overwhelming response from various stakeholder with more than 3,000 delegates from 23 countries have registered for the conclave.

Health Minister K K Shylaja said on Monday the conclave will be attended by delegates from 60 countries. It is the first time Kerala is hosting the AYUSH conclave.

Speaking after inaugurating the zonal meet of LSG leaders at the Government Ayurveda College here, she said registrations have exceeded the original expectation of 1,000 delegates.

“Apart from introducing traditional knowledge from other countries here, the conclave also aims to share our knowledge with them,” she said. As part of the conclave, discussions to promote Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani will also be held.

The conclave will debate on the possibilities of promoting Ayurveda treatment as an industry by linking up tourism. The International Research Institute will soon start functioning in Kannur, with land already acquired. The new institute is being set up with an aim to promote research to bring out new medicines to combat epidemics the Minister said.
