THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Giving no indication of letting go of the Sabarimala gold theft controversy, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the missing gold is yet-to-be traced.

“Some communist leaders looted the gold, and Congress helped them. This means LDF and UDF are the same. Neither God or people are safe in Kerala,” Singh said while attending the party’s election meeting at Pothencode here.

Terming the Left government’s stand on the Sabarimala women entry as vague, he also reiterated the party’s stand that the Sabarimala gold theft will be handed over to CBI.

Skimming over multiple allegations against the previous LDF and UDF governments — Karuvannur bank theft, AI camera, LIFE Mission, K-FON scams, solar and bar bribery controversies — Rajnath Singh said that both these fronts are competing in corruption. Citing the 2020 gold smuggling controversy, Singh criticised that people can sacrifice morality for gold.

“Only BJP will be able to protect Kerala from divisive politics, Jamat-e-Islami, SDPI, and PFI,” he said.

While the LDF and UDF constantly blame the Union government for the fund crunch, he said that the Centre has provided Kerala over Rs 1.57 lakh crore since 2014, manifold of what was given by the Congress.

“Both these fronts have been cheating people for decades. They destroyed the economy and failed to meet promises they made,” he said. Speaking at a function in Nedumangad assembly constituency, Rajnath also lashed out against the sitting MLA and Civil Supplies Minister G R Anil, claiming that the ration shops are almost empty except during the election time.

Continuing the momentum of the party’s election manifesto, Singh said, “The real story of Kerala should not be like that in the film ‘Kerala Story’, but rather that of progress and peace.”

Mentioning the party’s big wins through Suresh Gopi and Thiruvananthapuram corporation, Singh commented “Ithu thudakkam mathram aanu”.
