Ace archer Vennam Jyothi Surekha bags silver in Asian Championship

The Indian compound women team comprising Jyothi Surekha, Parveena and Trisha, will play the quarter finals on November 30.

VIJAYAWADA: City girl and ace archer Vennam Jyothi Surekha and Abhishek Verma have bagged the silver under the Indian archery compound mixed team category in the Asian Archery Championship held in Dhaka on Tuesday. The mixed compound team lost to the Koreans by a whisker (153-157). 

In the Indian compound women’s category, Jyothi Surekha reached the quarter finals which will be held on November 29. The Indian compound women team comprising Jyothi Surekha, Parveena and Trisha, will play the quarter finals on November 30. Surekha’s participation in consecutive tournaments is helping her achieve medals at various national and international championships.

She secured silver medal in the compound mixed team category and I am confident that she may win a medal in the quarter finals in the Indian compound women’s category also,” said V Surendra, father of Jyothi Surekha. The other important international events lined up for her this year and in 2018 are World Cup and Asian Games which will be held in August 2018, he added.
