Four metro bus services launched between Vijayawada and Amaravati

VIJAYAWADA: With an objective to provide a hassle-free journey to passengers, the Vijayawada region of AP State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) has introduced four new metro bus services connecting the Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) in the city to Amaravati.

Minister for Water Resource Management Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, along with RTC chairman Varla Ramaiah flagged off the buses at a programme held at the city bus port here on Wednesday.

“The initiative will come as a huge relief to the public and officials travelling to Interim Government Complex at Velagapudi from Vijayawada city,” Ramaiah said.

Speaking on the occasion, APSRTC Vijayawada regional manager PV Rama Rao said that the corporation has presently been operating 14 buses (on route number 301) between PNBS and Amaravati and they are making 54 trips per day.’’

Considering that the passenger footfall has doubled at Amaravati over the months, we introduced four new metro bus services into our fleet for the convenience of the passengers.

The bus services from Vijayawada will be operated to Amaravati between 4.30 am to 10.30 pm.
On the same route, bus services from Amaravati will be operated to Vijayawada between 4.15 am to 9.50 pm,” Rao added.
