VIJAYAWADA:  Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has found fault with Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan over seeking reconfirmation letters from YSRC MPs on their resignation. He said the  Speaker’s action is against the established practices of Parliamentary proceedings.

Alleging that all tactics in the resignations episode are only aimed at averting by-elections, he said, “The YSRC MPs had announced that they had submitted resignations in the Speaker format and released the resignation letter to the media two months ago. Two months after receiving the letters, the Speaker convened a meeting with the MPs and gave some more time for reconsidering their decision and now sought reconfirmation letters. All this is only to avoid by-elections.’’

In a statement issued here on Thursday, Yanamala observed that there is no need for the Speaker to seek reconfirmation letters from MPs when the resignation letters submitted by them earlier are as per the established procedures. He further stated that after submitting resignation letters in the Speaker format, the YSRC MPs  mentioned reasons in the reconfirmation letters which, he said, was against the Speaker format.
