VIJAYAWADA: With the three-day Happy Cities Summit inching closer, the administration has decided to develop greenery between Vijayawada airport in Gannavaram and A Convention Centre, where the event would be hosted from April 10.
The commissioner of AP Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Cherukuri Sreedhar, chairperson and managing director of Amaravati Development Corporation Ltd (ADCL) Lakshmi Parthasarathi and commissioner of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) J Nivas inspected the stretch between the airport and Ramavarappadu junction on Thursday.
As such, the officials concerned were directed to develop greenery in a way that it would attract the attention of the foreign delegates who would be visiting the city. They also told the officials concerned to increase the height of the fencing.
The heads of APCRDA, ADCL and VMC also directed the officials to chalk out plans to beautify other parts of the city, making them appealing to the delegates.
Meanwhile, a delegation from World Bank on Thursday inspected the ongoing road works in the capital region and enquired about the progress of the projects taken up by ADCL and CRDA.
IT Towers in Capital
Seeking public opinion, the CRDA officials released five more conceptual designs for the proposed IT Towers in Amaravati. The officials said that the designs are made available on Facebook, Twitter, CRDA website and Google spreadsheets, where the public can leave their feedback.
It maybe recalled that CRDA had released 19 designs of the proposed IT Towers in the last week of February, in addition to the ones released on Thursday. The officials said that the design, which gets the maximum thumbs-up, would be presented to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for final call.
