VIJAYAWADA: Following the directions of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Vijayawada, Satyanarayanapuram police have registered an FIR against nine doctors associated with Svara Super Speciality Hospital in Vijayawada over allegations surrounding the death of a woman in October 2023.
The doctors accused for the death of the woman are Dr Ch Sai Aditya, Dr Cherukur Rajeev Prasad, Dr Kasaraneni Purnachandra Rao, Dr Vikram Venkateswarlu, Dr Swathi Rosa, Dr Veeramallu Jyothi Sri, Dr Rajesh, Dr Eleti Rahul, and Svara Hospital.
The case was registered under Section 156(3) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) based on a complaint filed by Pantla Krishnamurthy, the son of the deceased Pantla Appayamma.
Police booked the accused under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 406, 468, 471, 506, 304-A, 201, 120-B, 371, 386 read with Section 149, and launched an investigation.
According to the complaint, Appayamma was admitted to the hospital between October 24 and 27, 2023, with low blood pressure, weakness and other health complications. Her son informed the duty doctor about her medical history, including atrial fibrillation, COPD and neurological issues, and repeatedly requested immediate consultation with cardiology and pulmonology specialists.
He alleged that despite assurances and treatment, his mother suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and died on October 27, 2023.
He later alleged that some doctors were practising without valid registration and accused them of negligence, forgery, criminal conspiracy, intimidation and destruction of evidence.
Police said further investigation in the case is underway.
