COIMBATORE: A little over 54,000 poll-related cases have been booked in Tamil Nadu in the run up to the April 13 assembly polls, DGP, Bholanath said today.

However, there were no violent incidents or no preventive arrests so far, Bholanath, who reviewed poll security arrangements of West Zone, told reporters here.

He said the department had identified some sensitive areas and adequate security arrangements would be in place to maintain law and order.

Besides local police, para military forces, home guards and NCC would be deployed for security arrangements, he said.

Earlier Bhola Nath reviewed security arrangements in Salem and directed district officials to intensify vehicle checking and prevent distribution of money by political parties to voters.

Talking to reporters after the review, he said adequate number of para military forces had been deployed in the district and it would be increased if necessary.
