Express News Service

MADURAI: Euphoria over AIADMK candidate S M Seenivel’s victory was yet to settle down among his supporters when a TV channel flashed the unsettling news of his passing away. Even as the rumour mills went into an overdrive, proclaiming by-election at Thiruparankundram, Seenivel was recuperating from a stroke that sent him to a private hospital at Bibikulam in Madurai on Wednesday. The doctors put rumours to rest by declaring Seenivel’s condition stable.

Seenivel (65) was at the hospital when the officials declared him the winner. Expressing surprise, S Selva Kumar, Seenivel’s son, said, “When we informed him of his victory his BP went up. The doctors have advised the MLA-elect to take complete rest due to high BP and no party cadre was allowed to visit him.” The AIADMK leadership has been informed about the MLA-elect’s health.
