KOCHI: Whether the votes swing right or left, the internet troll sites ensured that the people had the last ‘laugh’. Internet memes, popularly known as ‘trolls’, about the election results started appearing as early as Wednesday night. Though the trolls did not spare any political party from the funny jibes, they expressed a liking for a few leaders.

The most ‘trolled’ leader was O Rajagopal who was the only candidate to win on a BJP ticket. Having won at the fag end of a string of continued election defeats, the trolls hailed Rajagopal as the ‘god of suppli students’ (a suppli student being someone with many exam backlogs). Some other trolls were a bit more sympathetic towards the nonagenarian leader and likened him to Leonardo Di Caprio, the Hollywood actor who never won an Oscar, save for the last time, though he was nominated many times.

P C George was a troller’s delight on the counting day. George’s victory without the backing of any of the major fronts in the state had the trollers paint him in a heroic light. Playing on the line ‘Kabali, daa!’ from Rajnikanth’s upcoming movie ‘Kabali,’  the memes shouted ‘George, daa!’ with an image of George striking a defiant pose. While a meme used the popular ‘Thug Life’ template to show ‘the George swag’, another meme wondered why George can’t be declared a party unto himself.  Trollers turned the tables on themselves when they put up a meme where a beaming Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, the most trolled leader who won with a thumping majority from Kottayam, asked, “Where have all the trollers gone?”

Other notable trolls had a drunkard staking claim to victory in the name of his ilk and Pinarayi as a groom who goes to the nuptial bed only to find Achuthanandan already seated on it.
