CHENNAI: Congress president Sonia Gandhi wished DMK chief M Karunanidhi over the good performance of the DMK-Congress alliance in the just concluded Assembly elections in which it had bagged 98 seats.
While the DMK won 89 out of the 180 seats it contested, the Congress managed to win 9 out of the 41 seats it contested.
Though the alliance has lost an opportunity to govern the State, the Congress leader called up Karunanidhi on Saturday to congratulate the party for the alliance’s sterling performance in the elections.
