Humourist, Playwright Taarak Mehta passes away

Renowned Indian humorist and playwright Taarak Mehta breathed his last at the age of 87 on Wednesday after suffering from prolonged illness.

NEW DELHI: Renowned Indian humorist and playwright Taarak Mehta breathed his last on Wednesday after suffering from prolonged illness. He was 87 years old.

The popular series 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' is television adaptation of Taarak Mehta's column 'Duniya Ne Undha Chasma'. 

Mehta used to write for Gujarati dailies like Divya Bhaskar besides other publications like Chitralekha. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2015 for his literary contributions.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani expressed his condolence over Mehta’s demise.
