LONDON: Former Spice girl Victoria Beckham needs surgery to remove her bunions, a painful toe problem, and has been advised not to wear high heels.

The singer-turned-fashion designer has been advised by doctors to undergo a procedure to ease the condition - a deformity of the bone and joint which affects the big toe and can be extremely painful. Victoria has been doing exercises and had corrective insoles put into her shoes in a bid to avoid having the operation because it will mean she won't be able to wear high heels for months, reports contactmusic.com.

"Victoria is in agony with her misshapen feet. She is suffering from shooting pain from the bunions. Victoria calls her feet 'the bane of my life', but she is worried about having the operation because she fears they will compromise her ability to wear heels and ruin her stylish look," said a source.

"She puts up with the pain, but the doctor has told her she seriously needs to consider a bunionectomy or ditch the heels for a few months to let the inflammation calm down. She has not got that long to decide what to do," she added.
