Express News Service

Following in the footsteps of several successful horror comedy flicks like Yamirukka Bayamey, Aranmanai and most recently Kanchana 2, is Jinn. Named after a holy spirit, Jinn is the story of five friends, following their lives for three days, as one of them is possessed by a Jinn. The film’s director says that the film is based on a true experience.

“I can say it was an easy task for me to work on the script and screenplay. The only tough part was to recall my old memories closing my eyes. Jinn is a real story based on my own experience,” says director Sathish Chandrasekaran. Jinn is a usual travel story with an unusual episode revolving around five friends Kalaiarasan, Hari, Kali Venkat, Arjunan and Munish Kanth.

The team left no stone unturned for an ideal location. “We finally ended up with a two-century-old humongous bungalow covering 15 acres, the same spot where MGR’s Anbe Vaa and Rajini’s Thambikku Yendha Ooru were filmed,” he adds. The filmmaker goes on to say that the script required a lot of darkness. “The bungalow was surrounded by wandering carnivorous animals and we had to take the help of high beam lights and forest guards to protect ourselves,” he says.

The film is jointly produced by Rite Media Works and Sathish Chandrasekaranin Kadhaigal.
