There is no dearth of movies that convey a message to society on the importance of encouraging inter-caste marriages. However, one more attempt is being made with the movie ‘Gavipura’.

The story revolves around the hero, who belongs to a Brahmin family, and the heroine from a Gowda family. “The movie is based on a real life incident from Gavipura in Bangalore. I want to covey this message to the society that parents should not discourage their children who opt for inter-caste marriages. It is important to see whether the bridegroom has the capacity to look after the bride. Parents should not insist children to choose their partners from the same caste,” said director Kumar.

Here is a brief for those who are not aware of Kumar. He has handled the megaphone for Navarasa Nayaka Jaggesh’s movies — ‘Maarikannu Horimyaage’ and ‘Saddam Hussain’. He was in the limelight when a few Muslim organizations demanded him to change the title of his movie ‘Saddam Hussain’. Jaggesh tried his best to convince Muslim organisations but in vain.

Later, he had to change its title to ‘Sultan’. With ‘Gavipura’, Sooraj Sasanur, the nephew of Vijay Sasanur who wrote the script for Dr Rajkumar’s movie ‘Shabdavedi’, makes his debut as the hero. Soujanya, a model, is also making her debut as the heroine with this movie. ‘Gavipura’s shooting was held in and around Bangalore and songs were picturised in Thailand.

“We have put up a set at Rockline Studios for an item song. It will be an added attraction in this movie,’’ he said.
