Film: Kencha (Kannada)

Cast: Prajwal, Pragna, Thilak, Sharat Lohitasva, P N Satya, Rakha

Director: P N Satya

Director PN Satya is known for his action films, but he has failed to impress with his latest project. The lack of a rich storyline, comedy and good screenplay have made the film Kencha a recipe for disaster.

If Prajwal continues to accept such films, he will surely erode his fan base sooner rather than later. Prajwal’s performance is not up to the mark. He struggles a lot to keep up with with the young and enthusiastic Pragna in the song sequences.

Pragna, who played the role of an innocent girl in Ganesha Mathe Bandha, has now ‘graduated’ to swimming pool sequences.

The story is all about Rahul (Prajwal), an orphan who gets help from a philanthropist to pursue graduation. Swetha (Pragna), who is born with a silver spoon, joins the same college as his classmate.

Impressed by Rahul’s valour, Swetha falls in love with him.

Meanwhile, Ajay (Thilak), the son of a politician, takes a liking to Swetha. He can’t tolerate Swetha sitting with Rahul. As expected, he hires a few goons to thrash Rahul, but all in vain. Rahul catches him red handed while supplying narcotics to college students.

Rahul hands him over to the police. The police officer advises Ajay’s father to eliminate Rahul. The politician assigns the task to Pashupathy (Sharat Lohitasva), a goonda. At this juncture, the director introduces a flashback scene and explains that Rahul is the son of Pashupathy and under what circumstances they got separated. The climax is how Rahul teaches Ajay a lesson.

It is unfortunate that music director Rajesh Ramanathan has also failed in his assignment.

All in all, a film that you can do without.
