‘Kalla Malla Sulla’ is Udaya Prakash’s second movie as a director. Prakash made his debut in Sandalwood with the movie ‘Yogi’ . Though ‘Kalla Malla Sulla’ is a remake of the Hindi movie ‘No Entry’, director Prakash deserves appreciation for handling the megaphone aptly.
The speciality of Prakash is that he has ensured maximum entertainment with a variety of double entendres that have the potential to make the audience giggle. The dialogues such as — “I was fed up using the same vehicle (wife) and decided to have fun by opting for different vehicles (women)” and “I was happy with 30x40 sqft site (wife) and landed in soup for giving importance to a bungalow (mistress)” — are aimed at front benchers.
The other dialogue — “Wife is like a chewing gum which cannot be spit out easily or swallowed” — would be difficult for housewives to take in the right spirit. The songs are full of rhythm and the particular song — ‘Thuppaa bekaa thuppaa’ — is very good.
Ragini’s dancing skills deserve appreciation. If Ragini agrees to act in similar songs in future, she can prove to be a tough competition for other actresses. Apart from this particular song sequence, she looks sexy throughout the movie. Rishika Singh has also tried her best to look generous and flexible in romantic scenes.
Among the heroes, it is Ramesh Aravind who steals the show with his sterling performance. His gestures when he lands at the wrong place at an equally wrong time and attempts to come out of such situations are hilarious. Vijaya Rahavendra has also acted well. His performance in a particular scene where he tries to tie the mangalasutra to his mother-in-law instead of the bride is good.
The story of ‘Kalla Malla Sulla’ is about how Ravi (Ravichandran), an expert in cheating on his wife (Monica) and spending time with girls, happens to advise Ramesh (Ramesh Aravind), a magazine editor, to have an extra-marital affair. He even introduces Kushi (Ragini), a sex worker, to Ramesh who reluctantly agrees to have an affair with her.
Meanwhile, circumstances compel Raghu (Vijayaraghavendra) who works as a photographer for a magazine to accept Kushi as his wife. The rest of the movie is about how Ramesh and Raghu come out of the mess.
