‘Lifu Ishtene’ (Kannada)

Director: Pavan Kumar

Cast: Diganth, Samyukta, Sindhu, Achyuth, Veena Sundar

The movie ‘Lifue Ishtene’ is aimed at the youths who are vulnerable to infatuation. Pavan  Kumar, who graduated to a script writer and director from a theatre artiste, deserves appreciation for not only selecting a good script but also ensuring an apt narration. The USP of ‘Lifu Ishtene’ is that the director never allowed the artistes to stray from the right path.

The dialogues with a little bit wit and punch have the potential to become buzzwords for youth, especially college students. The particular scene, in which the hero buys a packet of condoms, and dialogues — “Father I have bought a packet of condoms and I may not come home tonight” — seem to be a little bit audacious.

The parents of the hero — played by Achyut and Veena Sundar — represent the latest trend among the parents who not only dye their hair but also advise their children to be bold and free birds.

The movie is about Vishaal (Diganth) who wants to have a head massage done with Navratna oil to get some relief from the trauma of his failed love affair. Vishaal narrates how he was attracted to Vidya at primary school and how he became close to Nandini (Sindhu) while in the college.

The narration continues to how Nandini’s father selected a bridegroom from an affluent family and how he happened to meet Rashmi (Samyukta), a journalism student who has peculiar habits such as visiting marriage halls to have sumptuous meal and be content with the road side food when no marriage functions are being held.

He also narrates how she compelles him to lie on the road at night after having dinner and made him to look at the sky to have a different feeling. He also narrates how his friend Shivu, who hails from a poor family from a village, wants to work hard to earn money and support his parents but suffers from cancer.

Each character has its own uniqueness and the credit must go to director Pavan Kumar.

Youth who love fun-oriented flicks could find this movie a worthy watch.
