CHENNAI: Superstar fans in the state found themselves a reason to rejoice, despite the star not having a release anytime now. One of Rajinikanth’s earlier Hindi films, Khoon Ka Karz, which was filmed 17 years ago, has finally hit the screens dubbed in Tamil as Arasan- The Don. With the title and its design found to be strikingly similar to Rajini’s Sivaji The Boss, Arasan has Rajini paired with Sangeetha Bijlani. Directed by Mukul Anand, Arasan is a gangster story and has Rajini along with Sanjay Dutt, Vinod Khanna and Dimple Kapadia.
Though the film had two other heroes, the dubbed version has focused on Rajini’s portion, that lasts a little over an hour. The film was released in four theatres in the city, Agasthya, Motcham, Raj, Rohini and Devi Kumari. Many Rajini fans queued up to theatres to watch the film, despite it being a dubbed version.
Rajinikanth, who is currently shooting for Endhiran The Robot, had also allocated dates for the shooting of Sultan The Warrior.
However, the film, which was originally slated for an April 2009 release, has a schedule of shooting left.
Being an animation film, a vast portion of the work remains to be done at the post production stage. With the movie not expected to be out this summer, Rajini fans are rejoicing at the release of Arasan, despite it being a dubbed film.
