The daughter of superstar Rajinikanth debuts as producer in Kollywood with the film Goa. Soundarya’s Ocher Studios is producing the movie. “It’s a wonderful team and I trust Venkat to do a good job. It is important to have a good chemistry between the producer and the director.”

Does she discuss work with her father superstar Rajinikanth? “Yes, of course. He gave me his thumbs-up as he likes Venkat Prabhu.” The beautiful and energetic lady is also busy with her directorial venture Sultan-The Warrior. On her upcoming projects she says, “I am excited to have a tie-up with Warner Brothers. My aim is to encourage newcomers — not just directors, but also technicians, actors, even cameramen and make-up artists,” says Soundarya. So how is her directorial venture shaping up? “Almost 70 per cent of the film is complete,” gushes the elegant lady.

How has the experience of working with her father been? “Amazing. When I go on the floor, I’m the director and I say ‘Action Pa’ and after the shooting I go back to the room and ask him — Can we go for  dinner?” The star daughter wants to place Tamil cinema on the global cinema radar and promises that the day is not too far. While the ride has not been all smooth, this pretty lass is definitely not shaken.

‘A memorable experience’

When you meet the Goa team, you will instantly know that they are more than just co-stars. Jai, Aravind Akash, Vaibhav, Sampath, Premji Amaran and Piaa — all 20-somethings but with loads of memories to share with you. “Look at them, they pretend to be good guys, but they’re not so. They are the naughtiest and craziest bunch I’ve ever seen,” says Piaa, who has been paired up with Jai in this film. “No one was acting in the film. We were all just ourselves,” adds Piaa.

All of them pull Premji’s leg and share that he enjoyed the experience the most, thanks to his pairing with an Australian actress Melony. They add, “A group of three goes to Goa from a village and the experience they have there forms the basic storyline.”
